Re-stored Re-stocked Re-opened
February 2011 saw Straid Fishery re-open under new management. Derek Cooper & Ray McKeeman have overseen an overhaul of the site and a major restocking of the 22-acre lake with rainbow trout weighing 2lb to 20lb!
Our vision is to re-establish Straid as a premier put-and-take fishery with superb quality stocking, clean and comfortable facilities and competitive prices. Anglers have the choice of fly fishing for rainbow trout from anywhere along the 3/4 mile circumference of bank , or from one of our fleet of 14 boats .
Banks and paths have been cleared to allow easy access to the lake's margins. Anglers with restricted mobility can be transported by staff to their choice of fishing stand. Enjoy the comforts of home in our newly modernised tearoom where complimentary tea, coffee and microwave facilities are available. You are welcome to come in for a rest and browse our fishing books and magazines. Refurbished Ladies and Gents toilets are available 30 yds from the tearoom.
We have made two significant new additions onsite. First is our Airflo Tackle Shop offering the complete range of Airflo products. We are bringing online and mailorder prices to local anglers, together with the opportunity to 'try before you buy'! The second addition is our 'Second-Chance Tackle Co.' All of us have at sometime or other upgraded our tackle. Now there is somewhere locally where you can turn unwanted items into cash by allowing us to sell them on your behalf.
